I have lots of hose-thread caps used to terminate legs in my drip irrigation system. Unfortunately, squirrels seem to like the taste of plastic caps...and everything else made of plastic...like sprinkler heads, ball valves, and especially Poly drip tubing. Using these brass caps solved the problem of eaten plastic caps. Using IPS tubing solved the rodent damage issue with poly drip tubing. IPS tubing is a very strong, flexible hose that glues into standard PVC fittings. Its great advantage is that it is very resistant to both mechanical damage and rodent damage. Unfortunately, IPS can't be terminated with a figure-8 closure. So we use male hose end fittings and brass caps for ability to flush and protection from rodents.Works great...but a bit more expensive that the plastic that the squirrels love.
